I Cook!

In my ongoing quest for betterment, I've joined The Daring Kitchen.  It's a blast!

The July 2010 Daring Cooks’ Challenge was hosted by Margie of More Please and Natashya of Living in the Kitchen with Puppies. They chose to challenge Daring Cooks to make their own nut butter from scratch, and use the nut butter in a recipe. Their sources include Better with Nut Butter by Cooking Light Magazine, Asian Noodles by Nina Simonds, and Food Network online.

I challenged myself to making a mixed almond/cashew nut butter and then used it in a recipe for Chicken with Curried Tomato Almond Sauce.  Yummy!

Upside:  Turns out I can do this 'cooking thing'

Downside: Mr. Fine says that I make better Indian food than him and am responsible for it from now on.  Ooch.

Here's how it all went down:

Ingredients lined up and ready to go (watermelon for dessert)

Without a food processor, the coffee grinder provided a sweet alternative!

Cookin' up the onions, garam masala, and such

Success!

Served with some naan from the store, the meal was delicious and definitely a keeper for my Mr. Fine's recipe book. ;)

Enjoy the kitchen!

Nice job - that looks delicious! I'm going to have to check out that site, cause a cooking/baking challenge sounds awesome!!

looks great! I never even thought of using a coffee maker. Then again I don't have one but I could have borrowed one lol I didn't try to make the curry almond, but I really want to!

Watermelon for dessert? You are a better person than me!

Also, the final product looked delicious -- too bad your reward is to make it for Mr. Fine for the rest of your lives :)

Well done!

Of the menus suggested, this was the one we liked best as a complete dish. Although we had chocolate strawberries for dessert...

And seeing you're so good at this now, Mr Fine can go off and find something else to impress you with...

Stay JOLLY!
